1998 – Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

A large team – blisters and musk oxen.

A classic. A large team ventured up the Sheenjack River and down the Jago River. We had hoped to climb part way up Mt. Isto but were just too exhausted by that point. A side trip high onto a glacial divide made for a very adventurous “down” day. Terrific wildlife, with grizz sauntering through camp in the early morning, musk ox, caribou, and dall sheep. Operator error turned a whisperlite into a guided missile and a thermarest into a giant bubble.
