2009 – Gates of the Arctic III – Arrigetch Peaks

A strenuous trip over two passes through one of the most spectacular mountain areas in North America – Arrigetch Peaks.

A relatively short (40 mile) ramble from Walker Lake to Circle Lake on the Alatna River, through the Arrigetch Peaks area. Strenuous, with lots of elevation gain (and loss). Spectacular granite spires all around. Not much wildlife and spotty fishing. Coming over Escape Pass (next to Xanadu peak) with a full pack was a little sketchy.
