2001 – Lake Clark National Park II

The toughest trip ever.

Why we ever went back to Lake Clark after our 1996 experience is a mystery. We chose a difficult route that almost failed in the first couple of days with a difficult river crossing. The next few days were fine as we climbed up an un-vegetated stream to the pass, but soon got nasty. The second half of this trip was an unbelievable struggle virtually straight up and straight down through mature alder and devil’s club interspersed with 100m sprints down river bars (followed by more struggling). Our most difficult trip.
